Trance: Rather than sleep, you enter a meditative state known as trance. You need to spend 4 hours in this state to gain the same benefits other races gain from taking a 6-hour extended rest. While in a trance, you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

PHYSICAL QUALITIES
Elves are slightly taller than average human height. They are slim, and even the strongest simply look athletic rather than muscle-bound. They have fair, pale or nearly translucent complexion. Their straight, fine hair is often white, silver, or pale gold, and they wear it long and loose. Their ears are very long, sweeping upward past the top of the skull, and pointed. Their eyes are pearly and opalescent orbs of icy blue, violet, or green, lacking pupils. Elves can’t grow facial hair and have little or no body hair.
Elf children grow much as human children do, but their aging process slows to a crawl when they reach maturity. They enjoy youth and health for most of their lives, but rapidly decline into old age around the middle of their third century. Very few live past 400 years.
PLAYING AN ELF
The Thassian Empire was once the most advanced and prosperous civilizations, until a millenia ago when a group of greedy arch wizards demanded from the gods what the priests of the other races sought in piety. The gods responded by stripping the ability to wield magic from the elves, leaving them with a genetic addiction towards the arcane.
Long-lived and desperately addicted to Arcane Power, Elves have a cynical, sardonic and jaded view of the world. They often have difficulty believing that events in the realm are of much importance to them, and they consider courses of action that can last for centuries. Some of the oldest Elves see the world as a distraction—a source of unwanted intrusions, and instead look inward becoming forlorn and terse. However, many younger Elves reject such views. They see all too clearly the world around them and the vibrant life that surrounds their once-grand realm. These Elves venture into the world in the hope of forging stronger ties between their race and the lands of humans, goliath, dwarves, and halflings.
